2015 Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show Preview: VIP
Less than a month away, the 56th annual Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show, also known as FLIBS, will open to display the largest yacht ever to appear at the event. Embracing six sites with more than $3 billion in yachts, gear, jewelry, art, and accessory industries, the Ft. Lauderdale show is considered a premier venue for superyacht display.
The show is sporting streamlined new branding, a friendlier website, and promises a new set of VIP packages. Quint Events, the same group handling similar VIP packages for the Kentucky Derby, the Super Bowl, and the Masters golf tournament, is offering an upscale ticket that includes valet parking, show entry, all day access to the VIP lounge.
A premium open bar, gourmet food, and concierge services to assist with meetings, yacht boarding, events, and other details will be located in air conditioned, quiet, comfortable surroundings. A single day VIP ticket is available for $399, and a three-day ticket is available for $1,100. VIP tickets are limited in number to ensure guests comfort.
Lürssen’s Northern Star is the largest yacht scheduled to appear at the show. Stretching 247 feet stem to stern, the chiseled profile and lavish French-inspired interior provide most comfortable quarters at sea. Next in comparable length are Oceanco’s 205 ft. Lady Lola, Feadship’s 197 ft. Rock It, Oceanco’s 194 ft. Helios, and Trinity Yachts’ 191 ft. Unbridled, all worth reviewing.
The 165 ft. Perini Navi sailing yacht Silencio will make an appearance, joined by an impressive list of expedition yachts, including Pendennis’ 180 ft. Steel, Cantiere delle Marche’s 102 ft. Acala, and Derecktor’s 138 ft. The Big Blue.
As the party invitations appear and special events unfold, the enthusiasm for this year’s show foretells a successful and enjoyable show. One of the most enjoyable, in addition to all of the exceptional vendor parties, is the Blue Party scheduled for Fri., Nov. 6 at the Ft. Lauderdale Boward County Convention Center. The event will benefit the Children’s Diagnostic and Treatment Center. Continue to check in with The Best of Yachting for updates and details leading up to and throughout the show.
