2016 Top Marques Monaco: Toroidian, Donkervort, Superboats, and JetPacks,
The 2016 edition of the Top Marques Monaco premier auto show wants you to put your dream supercar through its paces on the Grand Prix circuit in Monaco. That’s not all. From April 14-17, 2016, a range of revolutionary luxury market products from watches and jetpacks to hoverboards and electric bikes will be displayed for your viewing pleasure in the glass domed venue at The Grimaldi Forum.Top Marques Monaco
Among the “must see” icons, there will be three cars never seen before. The Toroidian MW1 from Finland promises one megawatt of power equal to 1300+ hp. The Tesla Model S viewed through the lens of Larte Design of Russia pays homage to Nicola Tesla and his electrical concepts. Noel Edmonds’ La Riviera, a recreation of the first Jaguar racer are all scheduled to appear, in addition to the Mazzanti Evantra, and the Aeromobil 3.0 flying car.
A duo of Aston Martins in the DB5 and DB10, the Jaguar C-X75, the Ranger Rover Sport SVR, and the Land Rover Big Foot Defender, all from the James Bond 007 film Spectre, will offer a closer look at the show. The all titanium Icona Vulcano car, the new Lexus RX450H, and one of the fastest, street legal vehicles, the Donkervort D8 GTO, also await inspection.
The cars may be the focus, but there are additional diversions this year that command respect. For the first time in its 13 hear history, the show will feature a selection of superboats.
On display outside the forum, boats from stylish Aqua Marine, high powered Belassi, Eams limousine and tender boats, haute couture Fjord France, Inshore Yachts epic Cobaltboats, the Kormaran transformer, and Monte Carlo Marine will be made available for sea trials in the Port of Monaco. Additionally, Luxury Water Toys will show off their latest power Jetsurf surfboard along with their Tender toy concept boat, stocked with ways to have fun on the water.
Burgess Yachts will also be exhibiting the stunning Cloud 9 60-meter superyacht, winner of the 2010 ShowBoats design award for Exterior Design as well as styling, at the Quai de’l’Hirondelle.
Watches from Franck Muller’s yachting collection, Rebellion, and Zanetti, along with jewelry from Astengo de Lama, D Joya, and Kathaline Page-Guth will excite. Unique pieces from Elena Sivoldaeva will truly enchant, with jewelry that tells a story through its design, color, and gems.
A complement to the Bond cars, the Martin JetPack personal flight vehicle will also bring its experience via 4D full motion simulator to guests, first hand. Similarly, but hovering just a few inches above the ground, the Arca Hoverboard will offer guests the unique experience of floating travel.
The Grimaldi Forum
Set right in the heart of Monaco, the show venue is easily accessed. Just 6 hours from Paris and 5 from Milan by train, the station is convenient to the Forum. Arriving by air is easily accommodated through the airport at Nice, France, on the Cote d’Azur, connected by train or car. By automobile, it is a quick trip from many European cities in France and Italy. After arrival, however, the real treat begins with where to stay.
For a truly first class Monaco experience, the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo provides an exquisite backdrop. Be aware that a four-year renovation is underway, due to complete in September of 2018, reducing the inventory of rooms and access to specific features of the hotel during intervals of construction. It remains, however, a magnificent hotel that deserves a visit, with the Louis XV-Alain Ducasse refreshed to a 21st century style Belle Epoque. The hotel spa, Thermes Marins Monte-Carlo, is a divine escape in the midst of all the activity.
Fairmont Monte Carlo is one of the largest hotels in the area, making it a near certainty there will be a stunning room awaiting your arrival. With several dining options, casino, rooftop pool, Fairmont spa, and gorgeous views of the sea, the property is a favorite of Top Marques guests.
The gorgeous, relatively new Hotel Metropole, and the fine dining Joel Robuchon Yoshi make for a particularly luxurious stay in Monaco. The Metropole Espa and a truly stunning view in a perfect location earn this selection high marks.
Drinks and DJs
A legendary cocktail served with international style DJ action is what’s on the menu at the temple of clubbing, Jimmy’z Monte Carlo. Choose a wild night at La Rascasse or Blue Gin, or head to Le Bar Américain for a chic, elegant low key evening of live music, sea views, and a stylish crowd sunk into sumptuous leather armchairs and very club-like atmosphere.
Make like Shmee150, aka Tim Burton, and plan your route to Monaco, where Tim will present full coverage via the Shmee 150 YouTube channel. An event not to miss if you enjoy high technology luxury travel, contact Steve@TheBestofYachting to add time on board a luxury yacht to complete this experience along the coast of southern France, or would like additional information on any of the superboat lines exhibiting at the show.
