A Summer Treat: The Mercedes-AMG GT R MSRP For $157,000
Mercedes Benz has vamped up its flagship supercar and has introduced a more hardcore version, the AMG GT-R. The car will be launching in the US in this summer, and will be priced at $157,000.
The car now features a front-mid-engine with a transaxle, handcrafted AMG 4.0L V8 biturbo engine which is producing 577 horsepower with 516 pound-feet of torque. The engine is mated to a AMG Speedshift DCT 7-speed transmission. This pushes the AMG GT-R to complete the 0-60 mph mark in an estimated 3.5 seconds and it will go on to achieve a top speed of a 198 mph.
The suspensions has also been modified to along with the introduction of active aerodynamics and active rear-wheel steering. The AMG GT-R also has a nine-way adjustable traction control allowing for the driver to find the perfect set up for their preference. Mercedes has made sure to include as much race and motorsport technology as it can for its more high end cars which are geared more towards the track. Unsurprisingly most of Mercedes Benz development team used the Nürburgring Nordschleife. It set a time of 7:10.9 seconds around the track which is a record for Mercedes Benz AMG production vehicles as well as holding the record for a rear-wheel-drive road-going sports car.
