Barcelona’s OneOcean Bar Port Vell Wins Style Points in London

Named the “Best Bar in Europe” and “Overall Best Bar” at the Restaurant and Bar Design Awards, OneOcean Bar in Barcelona’s Port Vell offers one stylish sip. On Sept. 29, 2016, inside London’s Old Truman Brewery, 800 designers and clients received awards in 37 categories with over 1,000 entries.

Part of the exclusive OneOcean Club’s restaurant at the Port Vell Marina, OneOcean Bar is a new building perched on the marina waterfront’s 16,000 square meters of dock space. Designers and judges remarked at the synergy of beauty, energy, and elegance brought together in this smart, urban Barcelona location.

In April, OneOcean Port Vell was named Best Marina and Port by Architizer A+, and in Dec, 2015 received the Global Project nod from FX Interior Design Awards. El Equipo Creativo’s Oliver Franz Sand, Natalie Canas del Pozo, and Lucas Echereste Lacy designed the space, which was previously known as Blue Wave. The team came to prominence for their work on Ferran and Albert Adriá’s 80-seat restaurant in Barcelona, Tickets, and 41-seat cocktail bar 41 Degrees. Franz commented, ” We translated this into an interior that recreates a wave about to break, embracing the costumers in a marine atmosphere full of reflections and shades, and creating a play of light and shadow at dawn.”

OneOcean Club is a private club at the marina capable of berthing 150 yachts with sizes up to 190 meters. The club offers a wellness spa, gym, business center, crew lounge, and concierge skilled in VIP travel, booking restaurant and entertainment, personal care, lifestyle, and business arrangements.

Paul Cook, General Manager for OneOcean Port Vell commented, “Following the multi-million-pound transformation of the marina including two new buildings to house OneOcean Club and OneOcean Bar, this award reflects the hard work dedicated to achieve our vision — to deliver first class facilities and services.”
