Day One Miami Yacht & Brokerage Show
Nature obligingly provided a perfect blue backdrop for the first day of the 2015 Miami Yacht & Brokerage Show. Lined up along a magical mile of Collins Avenue, the stars of the show glistened brightly in the sun while a pleasant crowd registered approval. Exquisite shoe collections lined the gangways, telltale signs of the stylish crowd on board to view the lavish interiors. All in all, a great day.
I stopped by Odessa, enjoying the company of the captain for a tour, while reminded of a few of the things to look forward to when I view Feadship’s newest launch, Savannah, early this summer. With immense outdoor spaces, Odessa remains a favorite for many reasons, most of which have to do with accommodating a 6’10” frame like mine.
Blue Ice proffered a look inside her cool blue exterior, made even more unique by a red waterline stripe, showing off a crisp collection of interiors and a large, soothing, dining area separated from a salon with a see-through aquarium.
I traveled by water taxi from one end of the show to the other, enjoying the yachts from a water perspective, and came upon the gilded Khalilha, moored at a home across the intercoastal. Stunning lines, with incredible glass real estate, she is one incredible craft.
Dinner at Eden Roc, some inside information about an Italian yachtbuilder purchasing Bertram, and a nightcap with the waves of the Atlantic keeping time with the star charts, I’m looking forward to more yacht tours tomorrow.
Friday, I’ll take a look at Mythos, Skyfall, Moonraker, and a few more inspiring designs, with news from Sunseeker, and some social events. Until then, satiate your curiosity by viewing the MYBS gallery.
