Delta Carbon Yachts’ Edgy 88 to Debut in Ft. Lauderdale
Flashing edgy Scandinavian styling both inside and out, the Delta Carbon Yachts 88 is making her debut at the 2016 Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show, Nov. 3-7. The third hull produced in the 88 line, she was delivered in July, cruising the Baltic prior to shipping to the US for the show. Hull #4, like the one featured at FLIBS, was built for an American client. She is expected to be delivered in the summer of 2017. Negotiations are currently underway on hull #5.
The all-carbon 88 was introduced in 2013, winning the Motor Boat of the Year award in 2015. The largest in this sport yacht series, the 88 is an easy handling and maneuvering yacht with lightweight construction made even more attractive by its efficient Lars Modin hull design. Gaining a 40 percent fuel advantage over similar yachts, the 88 heats up to 38 knots, powered by the muscle of a trio of Volvo IPS 1200s.
Above deck, a spacious salon, dining area, galley, and helm station are wrapped with big glazing that gazes out to the expansive panorama. Simple and elegant Scandinavian design keeps interiors refined and orderly, but comfortable and functional. A retractable skyroof, superior joinery, removable aft deck table and chairs, extendable sun roof, underfloor and towel bar heating, ample storage, and high end finishes all around keep 10 guests and three crew tucked into posh spaces. The full beam king master, a VIP cabin, and two twin cabins all have en suite baths, plus sound and entertainment systems.
The US division of Swedish yacht builder Delta Powerboats, Delta Carbon Yachts extends the same concierge-style service, both before delivery and after, to Delta Powerboat owners. In operation since 2003, Delta has produced more than 465 boats reaching from 26 to 88 feet, finding the sweet spot in the 54- to 88-foot range.
