Feline Fury Gets Fresh, 2018 Jaguar F-Pace
Few brands carry the prestige and class of that Jaguar has. For many years it was criticized of being an automotive company that wasn’t able to update itself to match up to the current trends, however they have certainly jumped ahead of the game with their new line up of vehicles. The F-Pace is an excellent example of this and shows how Jaguar are perfectly in sync with the current demands in the market. The F-Pace was launched in 2016 and has now been one of Jaguars most successful cars. The 2018 update sees a lot of changes being brought forward.
The options for engines has improved with a new four-cylinder turbo as its base engine. Other options also include 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder diesel (in the F-Pace 20d) and a 3.0-liter supercharged V-6 (in the 35t model). The engine was in-house design by Jaguar and is also found in the base models for the XE and XF sedans. Similar to the other engines the power is transferred to an eight-speed automatic with power going to all four wheels. Coupling this will an all aluminum chassis provides an impeccable ride as well as reducing overall weight and improving handling performance.
Improved engine technology such as a twin-scroll turbocharger, variable valve timing and lift, a new direct fuel-injection system, and an exhaust manifold integrated with the cylinder head, the Ingenium engine proves to be much more efficient than previous models. The new 4 pot engine produces 247 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque which pushes the F-Pace from 0 to 60 mph in 6.4 seconds. The more powerful supercharged V-6 produces 380 horsepower for the more enthusiastic driver. The overall range starts from 180 horsepower to the most powerful at 380.
For the individual who is willing to spend a bit more money the F-Pace comes with a Portfolio trim option for the top of the line F-Pace. This option adds softer, extra-pleated Windsor leather seats with 22-way adjustment and winged headrests. The Portfolio packages is loaded up with three option packages, head-up display, gloss ebony veneer, and 20-inch wheels. Jaguar expects a limited showing, as it’s only offered in Yulong White with Sienna Tan upholstery. The steering wheel which housed thicker aluminum accents and was only available on the S and R-Sport models is now standard on the Prestige models. Other optional interior features include mood lighting with the option of 10 different colors. Jaguar also offers a panoramic roof to provide the ultimate views into the vistas.
The infotainment system for the F-Pace is also something special, The InControl Touch multimedia system is a hub for connectivity, control and entertainment. Its 8” touchscreen with intuitive touch and swipe controls, provides the driver with full command over a wealth of features including audio, climate and satellite navigation. Electronic aids have also been added in the 2018 F-Pace including Forward Traffic Detection, a camera- and radar-based alert system for traffic crossing at the front of the car, is also joined by Forward Vehicle Guidance, which enhances the in-dash feed from 360-degree cameras with steering-angle overlays for pulling slowly into a parking space. In addition a comprehensive heads up display such as vehicle speed, navigation, cruise control notifications, Forward Alert and Traffic Sign Recognition data.
