MYBS 2015-3

February 14 is just a few weeks away. That must mean it’s time to fall in love again. Head over heels, breathless gasp, and racing pulse. All due to that chic, sleek, and dramatic vision at the Miami International Boat Show & Strictly Sail. And who could blame you? These yachts are simply gorgeous.

From February 12 -16, more than 1.2 million square feet, 2,000 manufacturers, 3,000 boats, and around 100,000 boating enthusiasts will converge in Miami to explore technology, design, and policymaking creating buzz in the yachting world.

Three Locations

Spread out over three venues along the Indian Creek Waterway, the show will find an abundance of indoor exhibits in the Convention Center. Who’s Who: A Complete List

The list of exhibitors is impressive, and can be found on the official website of the show at http://www.showmanagement.com/miami_boat_show/event. Dropping names like Feadship, Ferretti, Benetti, and Trinity, the superyachts should be well represented. Names from the sailing world will include Gunboat, Fontaine Pajot, SABA, and Leopard.

A lengthy list of manufacturers from gear and clothing, water and electrical systems, and navigation equipment to interior design and exterior treatments round out the list. If there is an item you need to care for your craft, there will be a company engaged to provide it at this comprehensive show.

More Than Just Yachts

The stars of the show remain the superyachts, but Miami as a destination has so much to offer. From the sophisticated art deco of Collins Avenue, to the vibrant culture of Coconut Grove and the glamorous nightlife of downtown Miami, there are parties and events every night, making your stay in this dynamic city a memorable one. The Coconut Grove Arts Festival runs concurrently with the boat show, providing a wonderful accompaniment, along with music concerts, theatre, ballet, and opera. While dress is normally casual in this contemporary city, dressing for dinner is an option, and dressing for the clubs is mandatory. Many parties and events suggest black tie couture, so don’t be caught off guard or you might miss the fun.

Superyacht Marina Planned for 2016 Show

Planned for next year, a new marina at Island Gardens Deep Harbour, will cradle the biggest and the best, nestling into berths equipped to handle yachts from 45m to 121m for the show. The $640 million development on Watson Island is a man made construction designed with all the amenities and features required of a superyacht marina. Complete with two luxury hotels, waterfront dining, and luxury shopping, the niche will be complete and utter perfection.
