Miami Yacht & Brokerage Show Day 2
Another glorious weather day here in Miami showed everyone why this venue earns a fistful of stars: bright blue skies, dotted by a few puffs of fluffy, white clouds, and a lineup of yachts majestically rocking the intercoastal.
I attended the Sunseeker presentation detailing the state of the industry from the Sunseeker perspective, which is looking quite appropriate for their name. Busy filling a niche just a bit smaller than other firms of their stature, their orders and builds are in line to keep things in agreement with a strong, progressive plan for 2015.
After the news conference, I was invited to watch the christening the new Sunseeker Predator 57 as MY Gravitas. With impressive speeches and the crack of the Champagne bottle by the owner’s hand on the bow of this stunning new yacht, she gracefully accepted her moniker, ready to cruise.
One of the highlights of the day had to be the gracious tour of MY Moonraker, the Mangusta build that does everything on a grand scale. Cabin heights easily accommodated my 6’10” frame, giving me a freedom throughout the interiors that I rarely see. In addition, the entire yacht is beautifully appointed, with the simple and elegant lines and materials that set Italian designers apart from the rest.
A simply exquisite, spacious yacht, I thoroughly and wholeheartedly recommend this as a charter, especially for a group of friends, who enjoy the best the yachting industry has to offer. Moonraker’s sleek exterior design, sumptuous and clean-lined interiors, amenities including movie theatre, gym, powerful tender, and abundant toys combine to make this one of the most sought-after charter yachts on the water anywhere. I will be featuring this yacht again soon, as I believe you, as my clients, deserve only the best. This is it.
The evening took me to the Island Gardens Marina and Resort, still under development. If the plans laid out at the yacht hop and party unfold as illustrated, this looks to be one of the most luxurious marinas in the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area. There were three yachts lined up for touring, but only one was actually available. I still enjoyed an interesting and amicable tour of MY Allegria, meeting another crew member of significant height. She is another yacht with adequate head room for those of us with some height, and beautifully appointed, wearing her age as a 2004 launch quite well.
Saturday will bring a bevy of additional yachts, perfect for planning a future charter as a Valentines Day gift. Whether for a special occasion, or simply as a lark, I will give you some new options that are irresistible.
