Oceanco Moonstone: A Superyacht Mixed-Media Canvas
Lighting design on a luxury superyacht is important, but on Oceanco’s Moonstone, it is absolutely breathtaking. Sparkling in the sunlight or twinkling brightly under cover of the evening sky, Moonstone can either enhance the dance with a brilliant light display, or subdue her appearance by blending in, mimicking a horizon sunset or city skyline. That can all be accomplished with the touch of a button.
First presented at the 2016 Dubai International Boat Show, Moonstone’s Van Geest Design naval architecture, fashioned with Temeloy Advanced Lighting Design’s display, delighted audiences with its brilliant, versatile appearance. Six-hundred individually-controlled backlit triangles on the hull, powered by 70 square meters of solar panels on the superstructure, respond to phone or tablet programming, obeying commands to create an exquisite array.
There’s more than just lighting to Moonstone. The 295-foot/90-meter luxury superyacht also features a dramatic wall of glass along the aft wall of the oversize pool on the main deck. Throughout her five decks, she also boasts a cinema, spa, gym, Jacuzzi, wellness area, guest suites and cabins for 14, and crew quarters for 29.
Turning possibility into reality, the innovative lighting system has been tried and tested, proving durable and desirable. Now, awaiting the visionary owner wishing to be the first to embrace this feature, she is ready to green-light the build for delivery in thirty-six months. Just imagine: a gorgeous yacht performing as visual art at sea, with the yacht as canvas, and you, the artist. That is the epitome of customization.
