San Lorenzo Celebrates Launch of M/Y Ocean’s Four
San Lorenzo’s shipyard in La Spezia has been busy as of late with multiple launches including its newest 460 Explorer, M/Y Ocean’s Four. Ocean’s Four marks the third launch in the highly successful 460 Explorer line.
The 460 comes from the total gross tonnage of these capable world explorers. With the 460 Explorer San Lorenzo set out to create a superyacht that was characterized by “elevated comfort, high technology and most important, by a high degree of self sufficiency and autonomy at sea, designed for those owners with a love for exploration, adventure and at the same time, refined and elegant design,” according to the company’s press release.
The 460 Explorer series made its international debut at the Monaco Yacht Show in 2015 and has already sold 5 hulls to buyers from Mexico, Europe, USA, China and Russia. Ocean’s Four has a 42.2 meter LOA with a full-displacement steel hull and aluminum superstructure. It’s interior has been successfully designed by Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel with the goal to blend interior living areas with the beauty of the outside scenery. This was accomplished through the innovative use of space to place openings in key areas, allowing views of the sea. For example, in the master stateroom there are views of the sea from bed. Side bulwarks have also been lowered to create incredible views from the main salon.
Ocean’s Four and its sisterships in the 460 Explorer series are designed to explore remote areas of the world. The large and open aft section of the main deck is capable of holding a multiple large tenders, even a seaplane or private submersible for additional exploration of the sky or underwater.
