Wider Genesi, exteriors by Fulvio de Simoni:

Where Joy had edges, Genesi has curves, from the foredeck gunwales, to the amidships sculpted lines of the walkarounds. A huge, 90 square meter beach club with panels that open port and starboard and a 7-meter floodable tender garage that doubles as a pool gives Genesi a social and recreational edge.

Displacement Motor Yacht: Heesen Galactica Super Nova, Naval Architecture by Van Oossanen/Heesen Yachts:

Considering the intricate analysis engaging size, weight, propulsion, and efficiency as part of the design process, Galactica Super Nova narrowly won the category by one point over Van Oossanen’s Samurai. Most Innovative Motor Yacht

Wider Genesi, Naval Architecture by Fulvio de Simoni/Wider Engineering, and Sydac, Interiors by Ideaeitalia: No surprise that a yacht built by a company founded on innovation should win this title, the second Neptune for the yacht in 2017. Veth azimuthing pods stand in for shaft and propeller, a hybrid system does away with the engine room, and tenders that float-in share their space as a pool and beach club when the situation warrants. Batteries and quad gensets, placed away from guest areas, keep everything humming beautifully.

Most Innovative Sailing Yacht

Baltic Yachts My Song, Exteriors and Interiors by Nauta Design, Naval Architecture by Reichel-Pugh Design: Lots of top contenders were separated by single points, making this a narrow but well-deserved win for My Song, its second award from ShowBoats in 2017. Requiring only three hours to go from luxury sailing yacht to stripped and regatta-ready, My Song has a lot to love. Hydraulic lines hide in the bulwarks, weight-saving strategies run from resin-reinforced linen bulkheads to carbon fiber components.

Focused on fine art, Sybaris considered lighting an important feature from the get go. PH Design and Lindsey Adelman used lighting strategies that not only added drama, but also length to spaces, and mood to match. Lighting also helped emphasize interesting textures and finishes, the second category to merit a Golden Neptune for Sybaris in 2017.
