Vripack’s Aesthetic Explorer: Meet M/Y Rock
Leading design studio Vripack has developed a new SUV class yacht design in collaboration with yacht owner Ali Sayakci, Turkish shipyard Evadne and project managers Tufan and Brothers. Mr. Sayakci said his plan was to set out and create a rugged yacht with sex appeal because “many of the practiced explorer concepts did not meet the aesthetic and technical criteria I was looking for. Their designer Robin de Vries of Vripack introduced us to the concept of a SUV yacht and it was love at first sight.”
This exquisitely designed yacht is currently being built at the Evadne yard with project management support from Tufan and Brothers. The build will be launched in early 2018 and has been designed with careful consideration given to the interior volume which creates an environment where the “family will always be facing the sea,” according to De Vries. M/Y Rock is being built with a fast displacement hull that allows for a top speed of 16 knots with twin CAT C12 engines and is still capable of a 3,000 nautical mile trans-Atlantic range at 12 knots. The interior has also been designed by Vripack Studio and includes touches of Maple Bush Wood contrasted with soft tactile couches.
“We kept her length in a fashion to be able to get in virgin areas of the Mediterranean. M/Y Rock has a high straight bow to intercept rough seas and low aft to be close to the sea as some sea gurus prefer,” said owner Ali Sayakci of M/Y Rock’s design. “For me Vripack managed to pack a super yacht comfort and floor space in a moderate size while achieving an impressive speed,” continued Sayakci.
